It is always our desire to treat periodontal diseases non-surgically. But, when more conservative forms of treatment for periodontal disease do not totally control the problem we are left with the option of a surgical solution.

Within our office, several of the doctors have trained in the art of periodontal surgery and offer certain treatment procedures to our patients.

These include (but are not limited to)

• Gingival Graft Procedures
• Tissue Augmentation
• Root Coverage Grafting
• Laser Recontouring
• Open Debriedment and Curettage
• Gingivectomy
• Periodontal Flap Procedures
• Osseous (bone) Surgery
• Osseous (bone) Grafting

These procedures can comfortably be performed for our patients using special local anesthetics, Nitrous–oxide analgesia and when warranted an oral sedative or relaxants. Most of our patients experience very little to no discomfort after our procedures. For those that do have discomfort, a prescription medication will be given.

Occasionally, our Doctors may decide that the necessary course of treatment be performed by a Periodontist. When this occurs, we have established relations with an exceptional group of periodontal specialists to whom we can refer our patients.

Periodontal surgery is always a treatment of last resort for periodontal disease. We encourage our patients to investigate non-surgical therapy first and to practice routine preventive care to avoid periodontal disease entirely.
