Newly designed Dental Implants are perhaps the single most important addition to dentistry in the past thirty years. Although not really new to dentistry, (implants have been traced back to the ancient Etruscans) the current design is simply remarkable. A dental implant replaces the lost root of a tooth allowing restoration of your teeth in a stable secure fashion.
Dental implants themselves are tiny titanium root replacements that are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone grows up to and into the titanium surface, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition dental implants help preserve facial structure by preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.
Implants can be used to replace single missing teeth or multiple missing teeth with fixed caps, crowns and non removable bridgework. If all of the teeth in a jaw have been lost dental implants can provide support or stability to either fixed or removable prosthetics and dentures that can replace the entire arch of teeth.
No longer will you have to be concerned about unstable or loose bridgework and unesthetic spaces in your smile. You will regain the ability to eat and function normally and you will smile with confidence knowing that your teeth appear natural and that facial contours are preserved by the implants and the prosthesis.

When one or more teeth are lost the dental arches become unstable:
All of this may occur due to the loss of even just one tooth.
ALL OF THIS IS REPAIRABLE WITH THE USE OF A DENTAL IMPLANT!
Teeth have many important functions in your mouth
Teeth allow us to eat. Lack of chewing function forces changes in diet. We substitute softer foods for the ones that we prefer to eat. With missing teeth food may be swallowed before it is fully chewed. Many highly nutritional important sources of foods have to be abandoned. Crunchy vegetables and grains are replaced by softer or moistened alternatives.
Teeth support our face. The upper anterior teeth support our lips and cheeks. The lower teeth support the chin and face. Without proper back tooth support the bite collapses which creates flaring of the upper front teeth and creates spaces between teeth. The lower one-third of the face squeezes closed and the chin lifts upward. The lips roll inward and disappear or look very thin with the corners of the mouth turning down in to a constant frown. Age lines in the skin are accentuated and we just look older.
Teeth support bone. When teeth are lost, either one or many, the internal stimulation to the bone of the jaw is lost. When this occurs the bone of the jaw begins to dissolve and disappear. The adjacent teeth that are themselves supported by this melting bone will eventually become unstable. Eventually this terrible cascade will lead to the loss of even more teeth and bone.
Teeth prevent pain. The pressure that a floating removable prosthesis (denture) can place on the bone and soft tissues can be quite severe. Chewing impacts food against areas of gum tissues and can badly abrade the tissue surface. The abraded surfaces are often the cause of further bone loss and frequently localized infections.
Teeth create our smiles. They are how we present ourselves to the world. They are absolutely the first thing that people see when we meet them. Smiles are our first impression. With gaps and holes in our smile we look unhealthy to those around us. We often avoid smiling and others may wonder why we always look so unhappy or sad. We dip our heads when we laugh and you may even find yourself raising a hand to your face to mask your smile when you laugh.
Regain Your Smile …. Whether by accident or disease, when a tooth or teeth are lost your whole body and mindset is affected. Your own natural teeth are normally best, but when maintaining them is no longer possible or wise we have lots of options for restoring your health and smile.
