Helping Cleveland Understand Implant Dentistry

Dental Implant FAQ

ABSOLUTLY NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our doctors have been involved in the field of dental implants for over forty years with combine years well over one hundred. Very few private offices anywhere in the country can properly make such a claim. We have treated hundreds upon hundreds of patients with tens of thousands of implants based on their personal needs and desires.
Variations of dental implants have been around for thousands of years. BUT, we promise you only the newest and most modern effective designs will be used in your care. We also only utilize implants from companies with years of research behind them to assure us of exceptionally high success rates for our patients.

How successful are dental implants?

Very!

The worldwide statistics are that dental implants have over a 95% success rate at twenty-five years and are expected to keep functioning for years and years beyond that time. Our office’s statistics are actually much better than that. Your doctor will be pleased to discuss the most appropriate application of dental implants to address your personal needs and desires.

Are Dental Implants for Everyone?

Some issues require careful evaluation prior to making that decision. An implant candidate must achieve reasonably healthy gums to allow for good healing around dental implants. Those with current periodontal disease issues (gum disease) can with proper treatment be brought to a level that they too can be successful dental implant recipients. Adequate bone support is required for implant stabilization. However if your bone support is lacking there are now a multitude of ways to rebuild lost bone to allow for implant success. Your general health can also influence your implant decision. Although very few medical conditions create absolute contraindications to the use of dental implants some will prohibit their usage. Patients with uncontrolled diabetes, those currently undergoing chemotherapy and those with severe cardiovascular diseases are not considered good candidates for dental implants. Fortunately there are very few issues that restrict or prohibit the use of dental implants.

How can I find out if dental implants are the proper treatment for me?

Ask our appointment coordinators to arrange a comprehensive oral evaluation with one of our doctors. If you already have recent radiographs from another source attain them and bring them along with you to the visit. If you cannot or choose not to bring your own radiographs we will be please to take new ones on our specialized digital panoramic scanner. Only after fully accessing your personal conditions and desires can a proper determination for treatment be reached. Together you and your doctor will determine the proper treatment and sequencing for your individualized situation.

What about …….?

There are hundreds of great individual questions that need to be answered about Dental Implants and your personal needs. Our office will show and discuss many different examples of dental implant therapy and how they might apply, or might not apply, to your individual situation.
