The All-on-4™ Dental Implant Procedure is a relatively new technique in the United States but has been done for many years with great success in Europe.  The All-on-Four technique is used for the fabrication of fixed or removable prosthetics for those individuals who have lost all of their teeth in one or both arches. This specialized technique works around areas where bone support may be minimal or compromised to allow for stable fixation of implants. The technique uses fewer implants, generally four or five, that are placed at mechanical inclinations to maximize support.  The use of angled implant placement allows us to avoid anatomical areas that previously could be restored with implants only after bone grafting.  Eliminating the need for bone grafting saves months in healing and thousands of dollars in expense.

This procedure can be utilized in the Teeth-in-a-Day process. This technique requires several visits of planning and prefabrication of a prosthesis that can be worn by you during the time that the implants are achieving their final healed state. With proper planning this will allow you to have your implants placed and the same day you have a prosthesis placed. The final prosthesis is then fabricated several months later.

As you can see this process is staged. There is frequently much confusion about this staged process and it should not be confused with an immediate fixation of the final prosthesis which is currently under development at a very limited number of sites around the world. Only a provisional prosthesis is placed at the time of surgery followed later by the final prosthesis. Many offices and clinics infer that the patient is getting their final prosthesis at the time of implant placement. There is no location in Ohio that is involved in the development of that procedure.

This is a wonderful method for patients to walk out of their extraction or surgical visit with a stable functional prosthesis the same day. You can eat drink and go out in public that day …. Teeth-in-a-Day!
