How does it work?

Your gum tissues are first covered and protected by a special flexible material called opal dam. This acts like a raincoat to the tissues to prevent them from a possible chemical reaction or burn. Then, a 15% hydrogen peroxide gel is carefully applied to the teeth from premolar to premolar. If the width of your smile enables us to safely lighten back to the molar teeth, we will also lighten those teeth. At 20 minute intervals the hydrogen peroxide gel is removed, and a fresh layer of gel is applied. Each layer of gel is light activated by the bright, blue-gas plasma wave light. It is positioned directly over your smile and in essence, is responsible for activating the whitening process.

How can I maintain a brighter smile?

You will lengthen the whitening lifespan by participating in the Smile Assurance Program. Upon completion of the whitening treatment, you will begin brushing daily with the BriteSmile whitening toothpaste, which has been clinically proven to remove 80% of food and beverage stains when used with the Sonicare power toothbrush. Unlike all the other leading whitening toothpastes on the market, BriteSmile whitening toothpaste has been clinically proven to reduce the formation of stain, whereas, the others simply remove stains present on the teeth. In addition to this home maintenance, BriteSmile will mail you one whitening re-touch procedure certificate after today’s visit. This certificate will entitle you to re-brighten your shade within a 3-year period from your procedure at 50% of the cost. Brushing immediately after food consumption maximizes your whitening lifespan. In addition, you must commit to your regular recall cycle. At no charge to you, we will schedule a 6 month shade assessment appointment. At this time, we will re-evaluate the color of your teeth to determine if there are any additional homecare products necessary to maintain your lightened smile.
