Full Scope Dental X-Rays

Our dentists are careful about prescribing radiographs (x-ray pictures). Our guidelines dictate only those x-rays as prescribed by the dentist. A major advance in digital radiography is our use of digital panoramic x-rays. Panoramic radiographs (x-ray pictures) are screening xrays which enable the dentist to see all the teeth, the entire jaw complex, the maxillary sinuses and the temporomandibular joints. Not only are we concerned about dental decay and bone level, but panoramic images permit the dentist to examine the jaw structure for bone abnormalities.

Since the panoramic x-ray shows all the teeth, we no longer have to take all the multiple individual x-rays (that we used to take) to perform a radiographic examination, thus vastly reducing the amount of radiation exposure. However, we still need to take individual digital images to get the maximum detail for cavities. As with all our digital images, these radiographs are stored in our computer system, allowing immediate access to all images. Digital technology also means that our new panoramic x-ray reduces the standard radiation exposure by 50%.
